Highlight: Wildlife galore! The adventure begins! Walk to the reserve's reptile house and serpentarium. A specialised guide will show and teach you about the different snakes of the region - you can also look for caimanes and frogs. The nature walk continues to a 35 metre (115 ft) tree, with a platform at the top to take in the views of the Dosel (top layer of the Amazon rain forest). The first platform is connected to 2 others via canopy zip lines so you can fly from one to the other, rappelling down the last one. (These activities are optional for those afraid of snakes or heights - no physical exertion is required.)
Aftering exploring this nature reserve in the morning, you will take a boat to an ecohotel in another reserve, located in Peru (during rainy season you arrive all the way there in boat; during dry season you may have to walk 45 minutes). The ecohotel is known for having a wide variety of bird species that are easily seen. You can also go canoeing, observe families of monkeys, and see enormous Ceiba trees and the Victoria Regia - giant lilypads. At night you can go out in search of caimanes!

Puerto Nariño Highlight: River expedition, indigenous communities, Monkey Island, and pink dolphins Leave the ecohotel in the morning for an 80 km (50 mi) boat ride down the Amazon River towards Puerto Nariño (back in the direction of Leticia).
Along the way, you can stop and visit indigenous communities that live along the river, such as the Macedonia. You'll also stop at Monkey Island, where you can interact and feed the thousands of monkeys that inhabit the island.*
Puerto Nariño is a small village with no vehicles, and the absense of electricity provides a natural, tranquil environment. In the afternoon you can visit the museum of the Natutama Foundation, where you can see a dynamic representation of the depths and shores of the Amazon river carved into wood. In the late afternoon, your guide will navigate Lake Tarapoto, where you can swim and observe the famous pink river dolphins. *For the economy version of this tour, you take a public boat rather than private, which means these stops along the way are not possible.
