Highlights
Only accessible through San Andres, it isn't easy to arrive to Providencia, which makes it more exclusive and remote than its neighbouring island. This is a dream destination for divers and snorkellers, and anyone looking to sit back and relax while enjoying the breathtaking views, where you can see the 27km of coral reef through the crystaline waters from the shore.

In 1630, English Puritans settled on Providence Island instead of the cold, rocky shores of New England. Their colony never flourished quite like New England, but they must have lived a good life here!

Spain soon took over the islands, and for two centuries the islands were torn between English Puritans, Spanish explorers, Dutch colonists, Jamaican slaves, pirates, and finally, South American revolutionaries.

The English influence on the island is still visible today - though Spanish is the official language, most of the locals speak English and many have English surnames.

To date, Providencia remains fairly deserted considering its beautiful beaches, but it is quickly growing as a tourism destination.

On the Island, we can arrange 2-3 star accommodation, usually in simple hotels or posadas. The flight from San Andres is about 30 minutes on a charter airline.
